Children work together to plant a young tree.

Many families eat fruit, especially fruits associated with the land of Israel. The seven species are wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives and dates. Some communities hold a special fruit meal called a Tu BiShvat seder.

A holiday word to learn with this page: “seed” is זרע in Hebrew. Say it together, then look for something in the picture or in your home that goes with it.

The suggested ages are 5–8. Sharpened colored pencils help with the smaller details in this drawing.
