Discover a Jewish tradition

🫓 Passover for kids

Passover, called Pesach in Hebrew, remembers the Israelites leaving slavery in Egypt. At the seder, families tell the Exodus story through questions, foods and readings. Matzah is the flat, unleavened bread associated with the festival.

The seder plate holds symbolic foods that help tell the story. A child can point to an item, ask what it represents or draw a question for the table. The Haggadah is the book that guides the seder; families use many different editions.

Passover lasts seven days in Israel and eight in many communities abroad. The matching activity introduces useful words before the seder. Some coloring pages retain Hebrew words so adults can connect the English explanations with the original labels.
